Almost believing

“I have watched you a lot and I really admire your new way of life”, Hans said to Bradley, his friend.

“Hans, Hans, I have told you several times. You can change your ways too if you desire it that much”, Bradley said.

“To be honest, I thought you were going to get bored of this new lifestyle in a short while, but you have just kept growing stronger. I mean, c’mon, don’t you miss the club, the girls, the booze?” Hans asked.

“No, I don’t Hans. God has been helping me daily to deal with those desires. I attribute my drastic change to God working in me and helping me to make right choices”, Bradley responded.

“I agree, you had a drastic change. Remember you were the one who introduced me to this lifestyle”, Hans reminded his friend.

“And I have been encouraging you to come clean. Jesus is waiting for you with His arms open wide”, Bradley said.

“Well, I’m glad Jesus worked for you. I have to find my own way in the world”, said Hans.

“Jesus said of Himself… “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). You don’t have to waste time searching for the truth. I am a living testimony of how a shattered life can find purpose through Jesus”.

“I know Brad. I’m not just sure if it will work for me”, Hans protested.

“What’s the matter? What are you afraid of? Why are you hesitating, tell me, please” Bradley persuaded his friend.

Bradley and Hans spent the next 1 hour discussing the Scriptures and what Christ came to do.

“Well, you just seem to know everything”, Hans said to Bradley. “I really want to be free from this lifestyle. I don’t just know yet….”.

Paul the Apostle gave his testimony before Governor Felix and King Agrippa. He recounted his life before he met Jesus and then, after he met Jesus. They were both convinced of the changes in Paul’s life.

Now as he reasoned about righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and answered, “Go away for now; when I have a convenient time I will call for you” (Acts 24:25).

“King Agrippa, do you believe the prophets? I know that you do believe”. Then Agrippa said to Paul, “You almost persuade me to become a Christian” (Acts 26:27-28).

Despite their belief of Paul’s testimony, they were not ready to experience the new life that comes from knowing Jesus. In fact, King Agrippa was almost a Christian!

Have you heard about Jesus, about the gospel? Are you convinced you should accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, but haven’t decided yet?“…Today, if you will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion” (Hebrews 3:15).
