Drama can be purposefully used to convey biblical messages and lessons to different audience.

The ministry of Prophet Ezekiel in the bible was notable for dramatic performances. He was described as a sign to the house of Israel. “Thus Ezekiel is a sign to you; according to all that he has done you shall do; and when this comes, you shall know that I am the Lord GOD” (Ezekiel 24:24).

In Ezekiel 4:1-17, God instructed Ezekiel to act out many “scenes” in order to portray or describe how Jerusalem would be attacked and will experience famine and hardship. 

In addition, Hosea’s marriage to a harlot, and the children they had,  were all prophetic and used as a sign. Through Hosea’s experiences, God wanted the children of Israel to know how much He loved them. God wanted Israel to return to Him irrespective of how polluted and idolatrous they had become. He wanted them to know He would still love them with an everlasting love no matter what they had done – if only they returned to Him.  

Finally, in Acts 21:10-11, the prophet Agabus, bound his own hands and feet with Paul’s belt and prophesied what would happen to Paul in Jerusalem.

Once again, if drama is used intentionally and purposefully for the cause of the gospel, it can have far-reaching, positive effects on the audience.

We are therefore excited to share the following drama scripts with you. On this page, you can download free drama scripts.

You can use them as follows:

  1. At home with your kids. Organize a drama night at home and get the kids to act out the scenes in the script. Also, you can just read out the script in different voices, like you are narrating a story to your kids. Then, ask them some questions relating to the story.
  2. As an additional activity during Sunday School lessons, Bible Study classes or Bible Clubs (depending on how much time you have)
  3. Can be included as an activity during an activity week at church or in school.
  4. As a tool for evangelising the community and neighbourhood. Organize a community meal at church and perform a short drama as part of the service. You will find scripts you can use for teen or adult evangelism here.
  5. Sometimes, the adult church might ask kids to fellowship with them and even show them some of the things they have been learning at the children church. Then, you can perform a short drama.
  6. Start a drama club at school or church. Your team can get invitations to perform at other churches and schools – a great way to spread the good news of Jesus Christ!

1. Let it go – drama script 💚®

Forgiveness can be hard, but Jesus gives grace to forgive those who hurt us. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Matthew 6:15. This script is more suited to an older audience.

5. Jesus makes me new – drama script 💚®

Each drama script contains a list of characters (cast), prop ideas (e.g. costumes, materials), scenes and the dialogue of each character. A narrator usually ends the last scene with scripture verses.

The dialogue in the scripts are easy to follow and perform while the setting is easy to reproduce. They can all be performed as stage dramas.
