Do not worry about tomorrow

Gina sat on the couch scrolling through the comment section of the article, Milestones for your 16-month-old.

“This chart is not accurate. My DD (dear daughter) walked at 8 months”

“I’m so happy that DS (dear son) is developing well. He’s 10 months today and taking his first steps”

“Hey guys, you should understand that this chart is only indicative. My DD will be celebrating his first birthday next week but is already running around the house”

Richard crawled up to Gina on the couch. She has been deeply worried about Richard’s inability to walk at almost 18 months. He was still crawling. Whenever she pulled him up, he went right back to the floor. She would be seeing their family doctor the next day.

“So, tell me, what other things can Richard do?”, the doctor asked.

“He scribbles with a crayon, likes to stack up blocks, drinks from a cup and sometimes eat by himself. He can identify about seven body parts, babbles a lot, and says his favourite word, no, countless times in a day”, Gina responded as she stroked Richard’s hair.

“Well, I think he’s doing really well. He looks happy, you’re doing a great job. I will still refer you to a Consultant Paediatrician to assess him. In the meantime, you will do some blood tests”.

That night, Gina was preparing dinner for the family and singing nursery rhymes to Richard, who was sitting on the kitchen’s floor. Gordon had just returned from work and swung open the door to the house. All of a sudden, Richard pulled himself up and wobbled across the living room, into the waiting arms of Gordon – to everyone’s surprise and excitement.

While we are encouraged to make practical plans in life, we are not to worry about how those plans will be fulfilled.

Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about the body, what you will put on. Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing. Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap, which have neither storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds? And which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? If you then are not able to do the least, why are you anxious for the rest?….And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind. For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things (Luke 12:22-30).

Yes, I know, it’s easier said than done. But we can choose to worry or choose to trust God. As soon as we feel those muscles tightening, the heart beating fast, mind losing concentration, we can choose to rise in faith rather than give in to worry.

God knows what you need, and He cares deeply about giving them to you. He does not do late deliveries – He is always on time!

  1. Lovely, delightful and wonderful story. I have been a worrier all my life but these verses give me reassurances when I need them, which to be honest, is many days. Thank you so much for this lovely post.

My husband is ready with those verses and I am grateful his memory is better than mine. Mathew Chapter Six – verse 27, “ can anyone of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” Verse 13 “ but seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

Have a truly blessed day, you and your family. ❤️💕🌹🌸 love Joni

    1. Dear Joni, thank you for your lovely comment. Worry is like a web, we constantly get caught in it and have to use the broom of the word of God to sweep them off us. May the God of peace be with you and your family always!
