Let the burden-bearer worry about your burdens

“I think he’s going to propose next Saturday on my birthday”, Susan announced with disinterest.

Sophia lowered down her ice-cream and exclaimed, “That’s some news! How did you know that?”

“He was asking so many indirect questions on our last trip to Alaska. We had a long discussion about marital expectations and all that”, Susan explained.

“You don’t sound excited, Sue”. Susan nodded in affirmation as her eyes welled up with tears.

Susan had a rough start to life when her parents suddenly died in a car accident; she was only three but survived the crash. Subsequently, she was placed in foster care and grew up in three different foster homes. She has been engaged in many relationships, with the hope of getting married to one of the men. Brad has been one of them – a bright, promising young man who turned out to be irresponsible and violent once she moved in with him. She moved out just after three months!

A few years later, she met Ronald. Now, Ronald is hinting on the possibility of a marriage. Susan thinks he is capable of providing that lifestyle she had always dreamt of. He is not worried about her past and has promised to do all he can, to make her feel truly loved. But she can’t just trust him to do that.

“I’m so confused and scared, Sophia”, Susan whispered.

Sophia gently held Susan’s hands in hers. “Maybe now is the time to consider what I’ve been telling you, Sue. Hand over your confusions and fears to Jesus. He wants to help you”. Sophia had been telling Susan of her need to experience true peace and salvation that only Jesus could offer her.

Mathew 11:28 is an invitation to allow Jesus, our Burden-bearer to help us with our troubles and confusions, “Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest”. Also, Jesus understands all that we go through and cares deeply about us, about you!

Hebrews 4:15, 16 says, “For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathise with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need”.

He has promised to help us, to give us rest from all our troubles, but we must be willing to allow Him to help us.

Are you confused about the circumstances surrounding your life? Jesus understands and He cares. Why not invite Him into your life today? He will make a huge difference. Let the Burden-bearer do His work in your life.

For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved”, Romans 10:13.
