Staying connected to the Word

Daniel has been driving for over twenty minutes now and has not been able to find any sign to Rabbit Hole Cottage where his family will be spending the night.

Daniel and Elsa had taken their children for a visit to Rabbit Hole Farm where they spent the day harvesting strawberries, planting native trees, and riding horses. Later, they watched excitedly as several cows were being milked.

In the evening, they visited other locations around the farm and headed to a restaurant for a nice meal. An hour later, they left for Rabbit Hole Cottage. As they travelled, the GPS navigator suddenly announced “GPS signal lost. GPS signal lost”.

Daniel parked and quickly tried to troubleshoot the navigator but could not. He put his hand in his pocket and realised he didn’t bring his phone with him. They left their phones at the cottage so they could concentrate and enjoy their visits without distractions.

It was a well-lit but lonely road. After a while, they decided to keep driving, hoping for anything – a road sign, another driver, or a restored GPS signal. Then, they saw the sign, “Farm cottage road”! They followed the route and found their way to Rabbit Hole Cottage.

The Bible speaks of two gates – the narrow and wide gates – and then counselled us to travel through the narrow gate because it leads to life. “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it (Matthew 7:13, 14).

We are not alone on this journey through the difficult way. God promises to guide and lead us. I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye (Psalm 32:8).

God has also given us His word to show us the path that leads to life. Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105). The word of God contained in the Holy Bible will give light so we can see even through the dark.

Staying connected to the Word will ensure we have the right directions that will lead us to our destination with God. When we feel lost, lonely, tired, confused, or discouraged, the word of God can comfort, strengthen, and encourage us. When we drift off the path or have doubts in our heart, the word is able to fuel faith in our hearts and bring us back to the right path.

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

Let us stay connected to the word as we read, obey, and share God’s word.
