You are of a great worth

Curtis was at Warm Hearts Medical Centre for his weekly hospital outreach where he prays with patients and encourages them to put their faith in God.

He has been talking with Austin who was rushed to the hospital from the scene of an accident. Austin had been driving home after drinking and partying with his friends.

As he lay on the hospital bed, he thought of what could have happened if he had died from the car crash. His life flashed quickly before him as he remembered the wrong choices and decisions he had made.

As Curtis explained the gospel message to Austin, he could not wait for him to finish.

“Please, pray for me. I want to rededicate my life to Jesus. I am ready for a new beginning,” Austin said.

After the prayer, Austin told Curtis with a smile, “I have now come full circle with God. This time, there is no going back.”

Curtis did not understand. “And why did you say that?” he asked.

Austin had been a fervent believer before attending the “One with Nature” conference. There, he learnt that humans and animals were the same; that animals were social, intelligent, emotional, and understood actions of fairness and equity just like humans. He was fascinated by what he heard. When he got back to campus, he joined the Bigger Beasties Club. He attended church occasionally and became very much involved in the club’s activities.

“When I joined the Bigger Beasties Club, I began to question my purpose. Why do I have to do anything special in life? But after the car crash, as I lay on my bed, I sensed that I had been living a lie. Can God still do anything with my life?” Austin asked Curtis.

“Yes, Austin. You are of more value than many sparrows. God has great plans for your life and as you get to know Him more, you will begin to see that His plans for you are simply the best!”

In Psalm 139:17-18, the bible says, “How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; when I awake, I am still with You.”

Yes, indeed, God has great plans for you!

“Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins? And not one of them is forgotten before God. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows” (Luke 12:6-7).

God made you in His image (Genesis 1:26). You are of great worth before God.

Are you wondering about your purpose in life? You will only start fulfilling your God-given purpose when you begin a relationship with your Maker, with God the Creator. He alone can tell and show you the reason for your existence. When you know God’s purpose, you will find fulfillment for your life.
