Why should my child use these Scripture memory verse cards?

Training up a child in a godly way entails helping and encouraging them to learn the word of God from their early childhood. These Scripture memory verse cards have been designed for parents/caregivers/Sunday school teachers etc. to help kids memorize the Scriptures. By exposing children to the Scriptures at an early age, they develop interest and build their knowledge of the Christian faith.

As parents, you might find that these cards will help you bond with your child over the Scriptures, and help you to update those bible references you might have forgotten.

Tips for helping your child with the memory verses

  1. As much as possible, try and teach the scripture reference together with each verse.  They are capable. Don’t underestimate them.
  2. Try and explain the meaning of the words on each card so your child can understand the verse as a whole.
  3. Understand your child’s development and plan how frequent you will be teaching them. For example, if they can take one or two verses a week? Or you might want to take a few days’ break and then come back to it again.
  4. Reduce boredom by being creative. You can put each verse in a sing-along song. You can jump, dance, or exercise while saying them. You can take turns to recite each verse – the child says theirs and then the parents or vice-versa.
  5. Try reciting and reviewing outside the home. For example, in a park or while driving in your car.
  6. Change tactics if your child is tired or becoming uninterested. Spell the words on the cards; or sign it in sign language if you know how to.
  7. Be patient with your child. Remember you are not training him or her for a contest but helping to hide the word of God in their heart.
